It is scientifically known as Caesalpinia Pulcherrima and has an Indian name of "Ratnagundhi". Its flowers come in colors of red, orange and yellow. It is borne in long racemes and its shrubs can reach the height of maximum three meters whereas its leaves can reach the length of forty centimeters. To its native region, the Poinciana is use a medical herb that treats respiratory problems, coughs, sores and fevers. Its roots are used to induce abortion.
